The KingFisher Story

KingFisher River Company is more than just a business, for us it is a family legacy in the making. Based along the North Fork of the Salmon River we are the King family: Blake, Sadie, Moxie and Auger. 

Prior to our family consisting of four, Sadie and I would spend our years navigating the Salmon River drainage. Our roots run deep in the Frank Church Wilderness. Ranging from the Middle Fork and the Impassible Canyon to the Chamberlain basin of the Main Salmon, we have worked for various river and hunting outfitters alike. Over the years we acquired the love for and the skills necessary to lead large parties through the wild and to do it in style! Our bond was forged in the quiet of the backcountry where we spent slow winters at Wilderness inholdings and staying connected to the land we love.

While the Wilderness is our foundation, family is the mortar holding it all together. With the birth of our daughter Moxie in 2022 and our son Augie in 2025, our mission became clear: to raise our children in nature and share the magic with others. 

Launching KingFisher River Company in 2026 is the culmination of a lifelong dream, one built on a deep respect for Idaho’s outfitting heritage and years of “drawing the map” for a venture of our own. True at heart, our dream has always been simple: to recreate along free-flowing rivers, push toward the next ridgeline and to enjoy the simplicity and beauty of the natural world while sharing this connection that has shaped our lives with family and friends new and old. Today, the dream feels even more meaningful as we build it with our children beside us. KingFisher River Company (formerly North Fork Guides) has been running the Salmon River since 1976, offering expert-led fishing and whitewater rafting trips. Based in Salmon, Idaho, we specialize in multi-day expeditions from McKim Creek Boat Ramp to Corn Creek Boat Ramp showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the Salmon River.

As a small, dedicated float boating company, we take pride in delivering exceptional, personalized adventures. Our guides are passionate about the river, ensuring every trip is exciting, safe, and truly unforgettable.
